Rakuten Edy, Inc.

TF Payment Service Co., Ltd.

Rakuten Edy, Inc. ( Head Office: Shinagawa-ku,Tokyo Representative Director and President: Masayuki Hosaka Rakuten Edy hereunder) and TF Payment Service Co., Ltd (Head Office: Minato-ku,Tokyo Representative Director and President: Jiro Kurobane TFPS hereunder) a group company of Toppan Forms Co.,Ltd. that provides payment platform service, jointly developed a platform that uses e-Money "Rakuten Edy" on smartphones equipped with "Osaifu-Keitai®" (smartphone hereunder) which enables them, for the first time in Japan, to become e-money payment terminals without having to use dedicated devices.

The service will initially commence on April 18 (Fri) during the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles game operated by Rakuten Baseball, Inc. At limited vending stands* in "Rakuten Kobo Stadium Miyagi", beers can be purchased by Rakuten Edy using a smartphone that acts as an e-money payment terminal. By summer of 2014, it will be deployed in all parts of the stadium.

The service is enabled by combining payment apps using read function of "Osaifu-Keitai®" featured smartphone and "Thincacloud" cloud platform. The merchant can turn a normal smartphone into an e-money payment terminal by signing on to the Rakuten Edy merchant contract and downloading the app.

Wider adoptions are expected at open space events and for transportation/delivery services. TFPS, in the future, plans to popularize the new e-money payment method that utilizes the smartphone by allowing apps to be downloaded from digital contents distribution services such as Google Play™.

Both companies, in the future, plan to provide e-money payment environment utilizing normal smartphone as payment terminal in various situations.
