Toppan Forms Deploys New Wearable Eye Tracker Throughout Japan

Information Management Solution Provider Toppan Forms Co., Ltd. (Toppan Forms hereunder) in cooperation with EYE SQUARE of Germany (head office Berlin), will be deploying a new wearable eye tracker device for gaze measurement (new eye tracker hereunder) for the first time in Japan. The new eye tracker will be deployed in multiple locations starting with Tokyo, Osaka, and Fukuoka. Until recently, consumer research service was provided only in the vicinity of Tokyo metropolitan area. The nationwide deployment will contribute to improving communication between clients and consumers at the regional level. The new eye tracker enables a wider range of analysis compared to the conventional model. The frameless design allows wider view and the movable camera takes images of objects in hand under a natural viewing angle. This allows detailed gaze measurement analysis to understand the consumer’s focus and interest points.

Background of Deployment and Future Direction

Toppan Forms has been contributing to lighten the workload caused by application fill-in errors and to increase the response rate of DM using gaze measurement research conducted by customer communication research space "LABOLIS".
Deploying the new eye tracker make it possible to conduct research with a wider range of analytical axis compared with the conventional method. The research method can be used not only for paper media such as forms but also for display usability research of smartphone and tablet and other media that are operated manually.
The light weight and natural wearability design feature allows the company to expand into gaze measurement of moving consumers in three-dimensional environment to track and analyze their behavior. It leads to providing research service for environment design of facilities, shelf layout in stores, and universal design of facilities that comply with the barrier free mandate to be institutionalized in 2016.
