"Thincacloud" Adopted as Infrastructure for E‒Money Payment Service of Rakuten Pay (for Payment at Physical Stores)

February 7, 2017

"Thincacloud," a cloud‒based payment platform developed by TF Payment Service Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Minato‒ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and President Toshiro Masuda), has been adopted as the e‒money payment service for Rakuten Pay (for payment at physical stores) provided by Rakuten, Inc. (headquartered in Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; Chairman and CEO Hiroshi Mikitani).

"Thincacloud" adopted as infrastructure for e‒money payment service of Rakuten Pay (for payment at physical stores)

Rakuten Pay is a payment service provided to Rakuten member stores by Rakuten Inc. It not only accepts six international credit card brands (Visa, MasterCard, JCB, American Express, Diners Club, and Discover), but provides an easy smartphone payment service by reading the QR codes on a smartphone or tablet PC or by directly entering the amount to pay. Rakuten plans to include e-money payments, such as Rakuten Edy, in the service, which will be available this summer.

The multiple e‒money, thin-client-type payment service provided by "Thincacloud" can drastically reduce the cost of instillation for payment terminals in contrast to the conventional rich client type e‒money payment service. "Thincacloud" also features scalability thanks to its function to flexibly interconnect services and its excellent security brought about by "Thincacloud's" security measures.
