Yodobashi Camera Selects "Thincacloud" as Their Cloud Based Payment Platform for e-Money and Internet Payment
- Plans to integrate Point Service and e-Money Infrastructure using NFC Technology -

Yodobashi Camera Co., Ltd.
Toppan Forms Payment Service Co., Ltd.

Yodobashi Camera Co., Ltd. (Yodobashi Camera hereunder) and Toppan Forms Payment Service Co., Ltd. (TFPS hereunder) a group company of Toppan Forms Co., Ltd. entered into a basic agreement that sequentially implements cloud based payment platform "Thincacloud" for e-money payment at Yodobashi Camera stores, tenants, and internet payment on Yodobashi.com.

As a basic feature, "Thincacloud" has two payment methods. One is on-site payment conducted in the storefront, and another is offsite payment conducted on the internet. Additionally, under the current basic agreement, Yodobashi Camera plan to provide "Gold Point" service that integrates with e-money infrastructure on "Thincacloud" platform. TFPS will provide a high quality cloud service where all aspects of customer transactions ranging from customer inducement by providing points to actual payment are comprehensively managed on "Thincacloud" platform which allows Yodobashi Camera to collect and analyze marketing data for various customer services.

Since "Thincacloud" is a payment platform based on NFC (Near Field Communication), it can be integrated into the current FeliCa based e-money service. Consolidating these services allows multiple terminals on the cash register to be unified. The same common terminal also enables new O2O (Online to Offline) customer induction marketing using NFC.

The background for the basic agreement between Yodobashi Camera and TFPS was to solve the issue of high cost burden to provide e-money service for Yodobashi Camera. While the conventional contactless payment infrastructure allows secure and high speed service, the cost burden for retail business such as system implementation and operation were exceedingly high for e-money provider, retail stores, and mail order companies. TFPS has been developing cloud based payment platform "Thincacloud" to lighten the cost burden of retail business.

Separately, TFPS will be conducting demonstration of comprehensive NFC solution covering customer lead, payment and marketing at "NFC & Smart World 2013" to be held at Tokyo Big Site on March 5(Tue) to 8 (Fri) 2013.
