Next Generation Document Publishing Management System "DocLAN-X" Co-Developed with Quark incorporates XML

Information Management Solution Provider Toppan Forms Co., Ltd. (Toppan Forms hereunder) and Quark Software, Inc. (Head Office: Denver U.S., Quark hereunder) will co-develop a next generation document publishing management system, "DocLAN-X". Features such as document component management, New/Old Comparison Table creation, and automatic conversion compatible to each device terminal will be developed using XML technology provided by Quark and related product such as Quark XML Author. Documents created and managed can be automatically converted into various digital formats such as PDF, HTML, and HTML5 making it easy to handle on the tablet and smartphone. By providing total solution covering document creation, printing, web, and other digital media, Toppan Forms will differentiate themselves from other solutions that focus more on storing digital format. The company plans to market solution to banking, insurance industry, and general companies in the fall of 2014 with a target of 300 million yen in sales.

In recent years, it is becoming increasingly burdensome to manage provisions and operation manuals due to diversifying products in the financial and insurance industries. Furthermore, it is becoming essential to be more efficient in revising operation documents and minimize revision oversight. "DocLAN-X" will be the premium version of "DocLAN" series that has a track record of being installed in 50 companies mainly in the regional bank sector as the document publishing management system focused on financial related administrative handling rules and manuals. Using the accumulated expertise, the company expect to expand users by responding to the environment where smartphone and tablet are becoming part of everyday life.


  • 1. Efficient Creation of Documents by Componentization and Reuse
    Managing documents as components and reusing them improves efficiency of document creation.
  • 2. Managed Documents are Publsihed by Style
    Based on XML data, optimal format such as HTML, PDF, and others are automatically generated for viewing in accordance to each tablet format.
  • 3. Document Data Can be Edited Using Word
    Since document data can be edited using Word there is no need to learn new skillsets.
  • 4. New/Old Comparison Table creation
    New/Old Comparison Table necessary for submission to Ministry of Finance can be automatically generated.

"DocLAN" is a system that can manage documents in Word and Excel formats and automatically convert the created data into HTML for publishing. Furthermore, features such as New/Old Difference Table, synonym, and narrowing down using ambiguous search terms allow efficient document management using a web browser. Additionally, it is also useful for internal auditing because it can prevent overlook of document revision.
