Toppan Forms Starts a Service That Improves Efficiency in Contract Creation

Information Management Solution Provider Toppan Forms Co., Ltd. (Toppan Forms hereunder) will start a service, at the end of January 2014, that allows the end user to send Identification document electronically, such as driver's license, using the camera feature of the smartphone. Currently, when a person opens a bank account or initiate a contract for a service, a copy of Identification document is mailed. If the new service is used, time to mail the Identification document, which normally takes 1 to 2 days, can be significantly reduced. The end user, regardless of where they are located, can send the document immediately by simply taking the photo of the Identification document and uploading it using a dedicated app on the smartphone. Since submitting the document for personal confirmation is required in a wide range of operations, Toppan Forms will promote this system mainly to the financial sector such as banks, securities, credit, and insurance companies with a target sale of 300 million yen in 2014.

Background

Traditionally, the end user had to mail a paper copy of Identification document to the company such as financial institution. Upon receipt, written information on the application is entered into the system, content of the attached document is checked, and approval review is conducted. After the completion of this application process, the company sends a notice of account opening or issue a card by mail. In this process, if there is any omission or error in the attached document, the company has to make the confirmation with the end user via call center or request to resend them by mail. With the spread of smartphone equipped with high resolution camera, it is projected that this type of electronic application will increase in the future, allowing smooth confirmation process.
