TF Payment Service Co., Ltd. (Head Office : Minato-ku Tokyo Representative Director & President: Jiro Kurobane) , a group company of Toppan Forms Co., Ltd., that operates payment platform business, and Rakuten Edy, Inc. (Head Office : Shinagawa-Ku Tokyo Representative Director & President : Masayuki Hosoda) jointly developed and operates apps that turns ordinary smartphone into a payment terminal. Two companies received the "IT Special Award" in the marketing category for "2014 32nd IT Award" hosted by Japan Institute of Information Technology.

The IT Award is given to company, organization, institution, and individual that contribute to improve the use of information technology with an objective to build and promote effective business, improve productivity, and create business for operation in domestic industries and administrative organizations.

Both companies jointly developed the app that turns ordinary smartphone into payment terminal for the first time in Japan. Providing payment service that does not rely on places, facilities, and infrastructure allows small-scale retailers and service providers to adopt e-money service in a short period. The e-money payment platform uses technology from "Thincacloud". This revolutionary technology and service was highly evaluated to drive market growth. Both companies will improve the service to contribute to the development of IT industry by continually meeting the prospective needs of users.
