TOPPAN FORMS Offers a New App Enabling Users to Complete Receipt Presentation Procedures to Donate Funds for Education Expenses Using a Smartphone
Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation Introduced and Began Using the App in January

March 7, 2018

DigitalHybrid Company TOPPAN FORMS CO., LTD. (TOPPAN FORMS, hereunder) has developed a receipt presentation app for financial institutions (“this app,” hereunder), which enables the electronic presentation of receipts, etc. required for tax exemption measures related to the lump-sum donation of funds for education expenses. TOPPAN FORMS will start providing this app in its outsourcing service for back-office operations associated with procedures for presenting receipts, etc. (“this outsourcing service,” hereunder) by combining this app with its business process outsourcing (BPO) service, which boasts an extensive track record. This outsourcing service is compatible with the presentation of required documents in writing and their electronic presentation and will help to enhance operational efficiency at financial institutions.
Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC, hereunder) introduced this app as its first user. SMBC began using it as a smartphone app called Manabu-omoi Ryoshusho Teishutsu Apuri (Receipt Presentation App with compassion for Learning) in January 2018. It enabled SMBC users to present receipts electronically using their smartphone, in addition to presenting them in writing, as they had done in the past.

App for presenting a receipt

In addition to this app, TOPPAN FORMS will provide SMBC with the Data Printing Service (DPS), which provides information about an application form, and instructions for using this app to users, the BPO service, through which the details of presented receipts are examined closely, and the “DocValue” electronic cloud storage service through which receipts received as well as a variety of other materials are stored electronically. Through those services, TOPPAN FORMS will support SMBC’s back-office operations for procedures for presenting receipts, etc. in paper and electronic forms, and contribute to the company’s efforts to enhance the efficiency of its operations.

Background

The revision of the system of gift tax exemption measures related to the lump-sum donation of funds for education expenses in June 2017 made it possible to present receipts and other documents required in connection with the payment of such funds to financial institutions by electronic means using the Internet, in addition to their presentation in writing. Financial institutions are advancing measures to address this change with the aim of improving the level of customer satisfaction and raising operational efficiency. Responding to such shifts, TOPPAN FORMS developed a smartphone app equipped with the necessary functions for sending receipts, etc. through the procedures for the lump-sum donation of funds for education expenses based on FastShot, its electronic certificate acquisition solution which has an extensive track record in a variety of areas, including the opening of savings accounts.

Features

  • 1.Operational optimization at financial institutions through the reduction of reception deskwork
This app reduces the deskwork burden, which leads to operational optimization, because procedures that were once performed over the counter are completed within the app.
  • 2.Reduction of omissions at points where receipts and the like are presented through the display of a guide for the app and the reflection of the details of their close examination within the app after their presentation
This app reduces attachment omissions in required documents and the like by displaying a presentation guide for the procedures for the lump-sum donation of funds for education expenses, which require complex entry details and documents for attachment. Moreover, this app reflects the presentation details, following their close examination at the BPO Center of TOPPAN FORMS, then it shows an alert along with omission details in cases where the presented documents contain omissions.
  • 3.Improvement in the level of customer satisfaction and contribution to the acquisition of new customers through convenience enhancement
This app shortens the time required for procedures and contributes to convenience enhancement, improvement in the level of customer satisfaction and the acquisition of new customers through the promotion of system use as it enables users to complete the presentation of required documents on a smartphone without visiting a store.

Future direction

TOPPAN FORMS will also start offering this outsourcing service to other financial institutions. Without limiting the scope of its service to the lump-sum donation of funds for education expenses, TOPPAN FORMS will contribute to customers’ efforts to enhance the efficiency of their overall operations through the Enterprise Form Management Service (EFMS), which is a total forms operation and management outsourcing service that supports paper and electronic forms throughout their life cycle (from their production to application to storage to disposal).
TOPPAN FORMS plans to achieve net sales of 1 billion yen with this outsourcing service by fiscal 2019.
